The Japanese-Nordic inspired Pantechnicon launches officially on 22 September in Belgravia. The five-story dining destination and concept store celebrates creativity and craftsmanship in a contemporary manner. Exploring the fusion of Japanese and Nordic cultures through the mediums of food, drink, retail and design.

The word Pantechnicon derives from the Greek meaning ‘craft’ and ‘art’, and the original building was built as a centre for art and craft in 1830, later transitioning into a place for local residents to store their artistic treasures and finds from travels around the world. Today, the building has being repurposed for the 21st Century, using the original facade.

The New Concept store, known as ‘The Edit’ showcases a curation of 150 Japanese and Nordic brands. With an experiential retail space The Studio giving guests an exclusive intro to emerging brands, artists, creators and makers through workshops, retail and dining pop-ups.

The first permanent UK version of the elegant and minimalist Japanese cafe, Café Kitsune will take up its residence in the Pantechnicon. The cafe offers a selection of breakfast and lunch menus – including picturesque pastries and dishes, along with expertly blended coffee. Another Japanese-inspired dining treat, comes in the form of Sachi, an intimate 30-seat pop-up spot with both lunch and dinner offerings, hosted in an open gallery space.

Nordic inspired Eldr boasts a changing, seasonal menu showcasing Nordic cooking methods and tradition; including pickling, foraging, and cooking with fire. Enjoy the theatre of food creation, with an open plan kitchen – experience the specialist Nordic chefs creating your food over flame.

If you’re looking for a view, experience the brand new rooftop garden bar and terrace over looking Belgravia. The terrace has an all-day snack menu from the Nordic restaurant Eldr and a garden designed by Finnish horticulturalist Taina Suonio, with an expansive south-facing terrace space fit for all seasons. With a Nordic cocktail menu which will change seasonally, curated by bartenders-in-residence from award winning bars and restaurants.
