The brainchild of two Colombian sisters, Morena is nestled in Eccleston Yards and invites you to indulge your senses with freshly roasted Colombian coffee and an all-day dining restaurant serving Latin American inspired dishes and cocktails with a contemporary twist. A great way to treat yourself, friends and family to a slice of spice, Morena will warm your heart with great dishes, exotic ingredients and a true Latin American welcome.
Tell us a brief history of your brand – how it all began, what you do and your plans for the future.
Morena started as an idea over two years ago, when my sister Juliana and I dreamt of having a restaurant, brunch spot. We’re both Colombians and wanted to bring part of our culture, coffee and food to Belgravia. Once we saw Eccleston Yards, we fell in love and we knew it’d be the perfect spot for us. As a brand we see ourselves setting up more locations across London and opening a big coffee roastery.
How long have you been based in Belgravia?
Morena has been opened for nearly three months – everything here has been amazing so far.
Talk us through your ideal day in Belgravia, where would you visit, eat, drink, shop, workout, relax?
I’ll start my day, of course, drinking coffee in Morena, walking around Elizabeth Street, then going to a class at Hotpod Yoga and finishing in Thomas Cubitt for drinks.
Where is your favourite spot in Belgravia?
It has to be Eccleston Yards. When I’m here, I feel like I’m somehow escaping how busy London is.
What is your commute to Belgravia (whether it’s a walk down stairs, a cycle through Eaton Square or a journey on the Victoria line!)?
I walk to work every single day – it’s a great form of exercise but it also helps me clear my mind after a busy day at work. When I’m in a rush, I prefer to cycle and in Eccleston Yards, I can store my bike safely.
What is it that makes Belgravia so unique?
I think the beauty of its architecture and the lovely people who live here.
