Description

Turkmen Gallery was opened in 1995 by Omar Masom who himself is a Turkmen, born in Afghanistan.
Carpets and textiles are the traditional family business, established about 120 years ago by Omar’s grandfather near the ancient city of Merve.

He was succeeded by Omar’s father who expanded the business into Europe and America and became one of the most respected traders in this field.

The aim of the gallery is to promote the arts of Central Asia and Afghanistan, also to support the traditional methods of manufacture by working closely with weavers, embroiderers and artisans in these areas.

Since opening, the Turkmen Gallery has been a haven for collectors, museums, fashion & interior designers.

It hosts private views and exhibitions several times a year, also a regular exhibitor at the Hali Antique Carpets & Textiles and Tribal Art Fair and other major decorative textile fairs.
