Comptoir Café and Wine, Mayfair has been open for take-away wine for the past few weeks but from 4 July they fired up the kitchens and are back, cooking up delicious breakfasts, lunch and dinner and offering table service. Bookings can be made via the website.
In addition, this weekend saw The Berkeley reveal a new addition to the hotel, a secret little culinary spot in Belgravia – The Garden at The Berkeley. The Garden is an intimate and informal Mediterranean-style alfresco restaurant, positioned on Wilton Place on a terrace at the side of the hotel with views of neighbouring St Paul’s church. Lit with lanterns, festoon lights and candles, this outdoor dining spot is lined with olive trees and lavender, reminiscent of the balmy nights of European escapes.
The Garden at The Berkeley offers a daily changing menu showcasing the freshest ingredients served as sharing plates in convivial eating style – the antidote to lockdown living and perfect summertime dining. The terrace is laid with socially distanced tables for two to six people and is open Monday to Friday 6 – 10pm and Saturday and Sunday 12noon – 10pm. Last seating is at 9pm. Booking is available for the first sitting, followed by walk-ins only.
Another alfresco dining gem is Wild by Tart’s outdoor Summer pop-up. Jemima Jones and Lucy Carr-Ellison have opened their Summer pop-up restaurant in the courtyard of Eccleston Yards and it’s open Thursday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. The menu will be a continuation of Wild by Tart’s farm to fork ethos, with all of the ingredients seasonally or locally sourced, or hand grown at Jemima and Lucy’s respective family farms in Northumberland and Somerset. Guests can enjoy dining alfresco from a menu which primarily makes use of the restaurant’s charcoal grill and wood fired oven.
