In celebration of The Gingerbread City’s pop-up on Motcomb Street, some of Belgravia’s most innovative bakers and boutiques have created their own gingerbread-themed cookies, cupcakes, croissants and even cocktails this festive season. Iconic Elizabeth Street bakery Peggy Porschen has designed the Jolly Gingerbread Cupcake, made from moist gingerbread sponge and paired with lemon cream cheese frosting, and Jolly Gingerbread Cookies, hand-iced with a pink or blue crochet sugar bow tie, royal icing and pastel chocolate lentils. Meanwhile, TomTom Coffee House around the corner is offering a delicious homemade gingerbread loaf – the perfect accompaniment to a warming hot chocolate, whilst Parisienne boulangerie Poilâne Bakery has traditional gingerbread men and hearts on offer and Daylesford has a pretty as a picture gingerbread house alongside advent-themed biscuits and chocolate.
For more unique gingerbread creations, head to the Chestnut Bakery, where the team have collaborated with Great British Bake Off winner Edd Kimber on a gingerbread croissant, whilst Pantechnicon has created a special selection of ginger-themed drinks, including a cinnamon and ginger kombucha cocktail and a wasabi and ginger margarita. The Fine Cheese Co. will be serving gingerbread spiced lattes and macarons as well as delicious gingerbread & date cupcakes with a citrus spice frosting. And if you’re looking for an at-home activity to do with the whole family, try MasterPeace’s gingerbread house decorating workshop, taking place online at a time of your choice and hosted by professional baker Nada Fahmy.
