OCHRE is a treasure trove of timeless contemporary pieces that will add a special signature to any home.  An Aladdin’s cave of beautiful objects, the collection includes furniture, lighting and accessories with an emphasis on high quality craftsmanship.  Over a quarter of a century old, each designed piece at OCHRE adheres to the principles of simplicity, honesty of form and luxury, which result in elegance and refinement – a signature of the company.

Tell us a brief history of your brand – how it all began, what you do and your plans for the future.

We design lighting, furniture and accessories with an emphasis on quality, elegance, practicality and beauty.  Pieces that last and are a delight to the eye.  It all started some 25 years ago with a passion for design around a kitchen table.  The future is exciting as we follow our dreams of new ideas but without boundaries.

How long have you been based in Belgravia?

We first dipped our toe into this area five years ago and have been here ever since.

What is your favourite memory/anecdote in/about Belgravia?

The buzz and beautiful floral displays that pop up in shop windows and street cafes during the Chelsea Flower Show in May.

Talk us through your ideal day in Belgravia, where would you visit, eat, drink, shop, workout, relax?

Belgravia is the perfect area for walking and meandering to discover charming cobbled mews’, grand residential crescents and hidden green spaces. Elizabeth Street is full of independent little shops to peruse, where coffee shops abound. Summerill & Bishop is always worth a pop in to find the perfect gift or treat. Ottolenghi’s on Motcomb Street is a quiet little spot for a delicious lunch, sitting outside on the pedestrianised road. Temptingly, Egg on Kinnerton Street is just around the corner and irresistible for covetable, beautiful clothes, with the very old and charming Nags Head pub opposite, it is the perfect place to rest tired feet and a depleted wallet over a glass of chilled wine.

Where is your favourite spot in Belgravia?

Around our Pimlico Road Showroom near the square, where we can meet and catch up with fellow designers, who are also based in this wonderful design hub.

What is your commute to Belgravia (whether it’s a walk down stairs, a cycle through Eaton Square or a journey on the Victoria line!)?

Train to Clapham Junction, bus to Sloane Square, then on foot, trying slightly different routes if time allows.

What is it that makes Belgravia so unique?

It’s steeped in history. A relatively quiet district for such a central location, with many quirky charms around every corner.
