Tuck into a Queen Charlotte-themed afternoon tea at The Lanesborough Hotel, which launches on 4 May, 2023.

Inspired by Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the afternoon tea has been created in partnership with Netflix and show creator Shondaland.

The limited-edition tea pays homage to the Regency era of elegant parties and balls, with a contemporary twist.

Taking place under a high-domed glass roof in The Lanesborough’s sumptuous dining room, the afternoon tea menu has been created by head pastry chef Salvatore Mungiovino and pays tribute to the key characters in Queen Charlotte.

Savoury treats include cheese scones and finger sandwiches filled with salmon, lemon and caper cream; coronation chicken, coriander and devilled egg mayonnaise; and cucumber and cream cheese.

This will be followed by scones, cream and jam, and the real stars of the show: four signature cakes, including Your Majesty, a strawberry scented cream bavaroise which sits regally atop the cake stand.

In honour of King George III and his love of astronomy, The King George Dreams of Venus cake is a planet sphere made of chocolate mousse and jasmin-infused chocolate ganache.

Inspired by Lady Violet’s elegant fashion is The Lady Violet cake, a chocolate bavaroise with mango compote and lime Chantilly with a shortbread base.

Finally, the Danbury Delight cake is inspired by Lady Danbury’s love of hats and jewels, showcasing the Danbury signature purple, made from Berryiolette pistachio gateaux, combined with a vanilla whipped ganache, sitting on a vanilla sable base finished with purple tempered chocolate.

Wash it all down with The Queen Charlotte Cocktail, which combines gin, Chambord liqueur, cranberry, lychee, vanilla and lime, and is topped with champagne. The libation is inspired by the original Regency Gin Punch which formed part of quotidian social life during the Regency period.

There is also a non-alcoholic alternative called The Queen Charlotte, which mixes cranberry juice, exotic lychee, home vanilla sweetness and lime sunshine.

The Lanesborough’s Queen Charlotte Afternoon Tea costs from £75 per person; from £85 per person with The Queen Charlotte cocktail; or from £90 per person with a glass of house Champagne.

The children’s afternoon tea costs from £35 per person for children under 12. Available as vegetarian, vegan and gluten free.
