A firm favourite with fashionistas with a sweet tooth, The Berkeley’s Prêt-à-Portea gives a contemporary twist to afternoon tea with a collection of bold catwalk-inspired creations.

The Berkeley’s ever popular Prêt-à-Portea has returned for the Spring/Summer season with a playful and stylish collection that recreates designs by iconic fashion brands including: Gucci, Saint Laurent, Schiparelli, Michael Kors, Richard Quinn and Oscar de la Renta. Gucci’s pink silk tuxedo is reimagined in bourbon vanilla mousse and Emmanuel sponge, layered with peach compote and glazed with shimmering pink icing. The finishing touches are applied with a thin chocolate jacket and bow tie. Michael Kors’ hero handbag, seen filled with flowers on the catwalk, is recreated as a Victoria sponge with fresh strawberry jam, wrapped in a chocolate cylinder with intricately piped butter cream flowers.

The showstopper of the collection is a cake that pays homage to Saint Laurent’s floral jumpsuit. Designed to share, the cake is a beautiful oversized red rose made of lychee mousse with fresh raspberry is set on a glossy white coconut cake and finished with a green chocolate leaf.

An experience to remember, Prêt-à-Portea is served everyday at The Berkeley from 1pm – 5.30pm and is priced from £64 per person. To make a reservation click here.
