To commemorate the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille, French restaurant and Belgravia institution, La Poule au Pot, has partnered up with Whispering Angel wine to treat guests to something special this year.
La Poule au Pot is hosting its very first white dinner for Bastille Day this year. Guests who dine at the restaurant from 6pm onwards on Thursday 14th July and wear a white outfit will be offered a complimentary glass of Whispering Angel rosé wine with their dinner.
The first dîner en blanc (white dinner) allegedly dates back to 1988 in Paris when officer François Pasquier returned from a long trip in Polynesia. He invited a group of his friends to join him for a picnic in the Bois de Boulogne and asked them to wear white so that they could recognize one another.
With rosé wine being so emblematic of French summers, the partnership between La Poule au Pot and Whispering Angel is a natural fit. Whispering Angel pairs particularly well with La Poule au Pot’s classic French menu which features excellent ingredients, generous portions and fine cooking, presented with exuberant panache. Diners will be able to order from the table d’hôte menu, which includes dishes like the escargots, salmon terrine, ratatouille, l’entrecôte de boeuf and the tarte tatin.
